This is a novel worth reading.. though the author doesnot deviate even once from the theme of the novel, I guess he has been successful in captivating the minds of the readers fairly well.
The novel is based on a person, much more cunning than his age, who is able to make a fraud in the business eventually ending up in losing 1 million dollars collectively from 4 individuals.
Now is the turn of the 4 of them to turn the tables upside down and earn from the fellow the 1 million, by hook or by crook, NOT A PENNY LESS, NOT A PENNY MORE.
Jeffrey Archer is unable to leave the fellow readers in aghast, and not until 3 of the 4 tasks have been completed successfully, did the 4 of them realize that the journey is still filled with a lot of surprises and shocks they have never expected.
archers novels have a characterstic of increasing the curiosity till we read the last word of the novel, and thats what he did in this one too most impressively. Worth a read I tell you and to spend your time over the same.

A prisoner of birth!!

A very interesting and captivating novel written by Jeffrey archer : a prisoner or birth is all about the unfortunate events that take place in the life of danny(Daniel Cartwright) when he gets imprisonment of 22 years on the charge of the murder of his brother in law on the day he proposed his girlfriend beth.

His luck overturns as he meets nick Moncrieff and big al in belmarsh prison. With the accidental murder of nick one day and further as big al uses the moment to help danny, danny becomes the first person to get out of belmarsh as nick Moncrieff without being caught.

Danny sells of the stamp collection of nick’s grandfather and comes as a multi-millionaire to London to take revenge from the murderers of his brother in law.

An exciting book to read and get captivated as it includes moments of cunningness, business deals involving millions of dollars, murders, heart throbbing court trials, prison life and yet a keeping a good pace of interest as the scenes change as soon as you flip the page. Though we have a lot of names to remember as they keep coming till you will be on the last page of the book, this 531 page book is worth reading and spending time to learn some hotshot debating from the court trials and shrewd ways to win over people.

Happy Bhawan Day!!...Pulkit

There you go in the end, with the anger unleashed at your very own
bhawan, “Jawahar Bhawan”. The last bhawan day in IITR as I remember,
it was my 2nd year. I was waiting for it once, for a long time as
inquisitive as it being my birthday. People will come, People will
see, People might destroy… as per their generosity but I have always
liked it. To be on the other side of the destruction is what I have
never experienced. I love when ppl say to others happy bhawan day,
love the food(sometimes), love the decorations, and actually ppl
thinking of me as someone who will invite them here.
As the days went louder, it seemed I will not even deliberately be
able to issue the passes. Its not all like the other bhawans where you
can find a secret chamber to the food court or arrange for more
members than the number of passes. Out of surprise I could see more
haddus and maddus than expected, dunno but sometimes I feel where do
these guys actually come from? And why won’t you expect when the half
the pop. Here is south Indian irritating with the smashes and the
drops every night.
Now when everything is over I stand in front of my room, its 12
midnight. The water doesn’t seem to last. It feels I actually had a
swimming pool that is about to dry. The smell of my Chocolate
Seduction AXE doesn’t seem to go. I ponder whether I even liked it
once. The razor blades of my sweet fan torn apart, folded into
infinite loops. The scratches of Happy Bhawan Day on the wall that
make me feel as if they have put some dynamite ready to blast. My bed,
now seem to be lying aside, which was my favorite spot in my room. My
blanket bathing in the water spread on the floor. Oil and Shampoo and
Surf Xcel on the walls as if even they need to remove their dandruff.
The torn souls of my dreary newspapers. My clothes, my shelter, spread
on the floor with the footsteps of the Vampires.

Making Acrobat Reader 2fast and 2furiuos!!

Do u get irritated when acrobat reader takes 5/10 seconds to load when you want to open a pdf document. There is a way to speed up the loading.

1. Go to the installation folder of acrobat reader
(C:\program files\adobe\acrobat\reader\.. whatever)
2. Move all the files and folders from the "plugins" directory to the "Optional" directory. (I repeat.. cut and paste the files NOT copy & paste).

Also make sure that acrobat reader is not open else it will lock the files and not allow you to move the files).
Now your acrobat reader will load very fast and almost as good as notepad..

getting rid of the software counterfeiting option in windows!!

After installing your genuine copy of Microsoft Windows XP you are prompted with a “Your software is counterfeit” error message at startup. Even after visiting the www.microsoft.com/genuine/ site and validating, you still get the above message popping up after 2 or 3 boots. There is an easy solution to this and I would like you to follow the steps below to fix the issue.

1. C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files

Within that folder, remove any files or folders associated with .WGA
2. Safe Mode

Reboot your computer and as soon as Windows logs off, start repeatively tapping the F8 Key on your keyboard.
As soon as you see the Windows Advanced Startup options select Safe Mode within Safe Mode get yourself into these folders…
C:\Windows\System32 (Rename wgatray.exe to wgatrayold.exe)
C:\Windows\System32\dllcache (Rename wgatray.exe to wgatrayold.exe)
Note: Dllcache is a hidden folder, to view hidden folders do the following, go to Start, Control Panel, Folder Options,
Select the view Tab and under the Hidden Files option, select Show hidden files and folders
3. Safe Mode Registry

Click on Start, Run and within the open dialog box type regedit and click OK.
Within the Registry Editor navigate your self to
HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify\WGALOGON
Right Click and Export the WGALOGON Folder (this should be saved onto your machine for backup purposes)
After Exporting the folder, DELETE the WGALOGON folder
After deleting close all applications and Restart your machine back to Normal Mode
4. www.microsoft.com/genuine

Get into the site above and manually re-validate your copy of Windows.
After being prompt of a successful validation, Restart your Machine.

What I Actually felt today!!

today I am feeling very relaxed and a lot sleepy. Definitely not a boring day but a day that I might always remember in my life. As says the Chaos Theory, a small change in the past can lead to a tremendous change in the future that is yet to be seen...I have always wished to see the future and work in the present for a better future than what I might have seen, but does that not contradict what I have actually seen in the future. Well If you get this, you may be able to know what exactly is going in my mind right now. And now is the time when I dont wish to do anything and dunno how many times such a moment comes in my life when I even dont have anything to do. Actually its not that I dont have anything to do but what I have to do is planned for the near future.
We have hols starting from tomorrow, Holi hols...and I think these are the only hols when I might actually be able to spend max of my time at home(Only if the future permits).
College life is actually better than the life before JEE. I am free and free to think in whatever way I can, I have thousands of ways to select from and each has its own advantages and disadvantages. Though at the time of JEE I was more interested in studying, the syllabus was interesting, full of new ways to solve a problem. I loved doing that.
Now I love coding, of any sort...and spend my time in IMG(for those who don't know ask me, what this is??) finding new ways to make programs work, this seems analogous to the curriculum of JEE.
Actually I have not yet told you why would I always remember this day. Here at IIT Roorkee apart from a bunch of dedicated students no one is ready to do any work, feeling lethargic sometimes I can understand but if the life is like that...dude you definitely have to buck up.
I very well remember last Thursday, I was standing in front of the dean's office for issue of my grade sheet. And then it has not been a single day since then when I have not begged the dean for making the process go a little faster, I really required that. But the game is all set and you cannot interfere what the god has planned. People will work when they get orders, Even the higher authority require to be given orders by the highest. It was only with the consent of the director that I received the grade sheet today and all the work of signature and attestation was done today only in 20 min. For that I roamed here and there for 1 week. Thats how it actually seem to go and will remain.
The problem is not in the people, actually the root of the problem lies somewhere else. The britishers are the main cause of this chaos in todays time. Had it not been the britishers here in India, had the Indians not allowed the East India Company to be set up, the british rule had not been the real cause of such chaos today. India would not have been the one left destroyed after the defeated britishers on the occasion of World War 2 and we would have been competing the US today in terms of economy, in terms of Science and Technology, in terms of everything.
Atleast the people make us feel that they are very kind and ready to work when the work is complete. Thats what I actually like about the Indians...........

A walk to remember

And hence we started.... up up and walking the infinite path to mata Vaishno Devi. We didn't know when this would be ending cause this was the first time I was conscious and could remember the journey. My enthusiasm convinced me to walk bare foot and thats what made my journey a little tough. Walking by the milestones, counting every step We made, The Information Management Group went on with a full planned trip to Jammu. There were water bottles, first-aid, digicams, lathis(for the experienced), laddoos(:P) and an awesome view all around us.
The serious trouble were NC's ( the nuisance creators, as I call the ponywalas) and the langoors those brats took my prasad :(. and these things have to be separated from the main route. I am not talking of the monkeys but the ponywalas should not be interrupting the journey.
Finally we arrived the temple, so it had to be like bathing in ice-cold water and then running to the gufa where we were not allowed to even stand for a sec for the darshan.
Its like you travel 14 km only for a glance of Vaishno Devi and you don't even get your own coconut in return. Next destination was the Bhairavnath Mandir, and the place where langoors and monkeys live together, nice place I must tell you cause the next aim is to jump off the Trikuta Parvat into the Yatri Niwas.
We rushed back from the most excited state to the path from the Sanjhi Chhat, where there was this beautiful view of the helipad to the ground state ultimately to our beds and for me that too was a barefoot walk.
The things I learned during the trip include always go to Vaishno Devi barefoot, cause thats the best you will definitely remember it for the next one week, do never carry the lathi with you, (sachi mein it will have no effect, aur ye main sachi bol raha hoon):P , always hide your eatables in your bag cause the most greedy of the prasad are the monkeys(they always want a life better than yours), and most importantly never dump garbage anywhere except your own bag...

Robosapiens is one of the major robotic events that is organized on a large scale in the Techfest of Indian Institute of Technology(IIT), Roorkee renowned as COGNIZANCE. It is organized in the month of March every year. A different problem statement is designed every year to meet the growing intellectual minds of the youth who take a keen interest in robotics and related field. A prize money is set up as per the difficulty of the problem. Every year a tough competition is seen by the participants from all around the Indian Sub-Continent who come here to show their metal. Robsapiens is open for the Undergraduates of any affiliated University. Infact, Sometimes the problem statement seem to be so tough that a simpler part of it is designed for the First Year Undergraduate students.
Robosapiens 2008
A lot of participation was seen in the year 2008 as the problem statement was interesting and a little mind boggling. The concept of the problem was based upon how to make a robot to be able to move on a steel rod and to transfer table tennis balls from right side to buckets kept on the left.
One of the major challenge was to make the procedure more efficient and fast. Now, its not difficult to think of a mechanism but when efficiency is the key, the right approach matters.
Some well known mechanisms for such a problem are suction mechanism, pick-drop mechanism, etc.

The illushun has finally made me re-think about the blog again....now when the blogspot is giving you ample space then why not waste it. At least its better than using your time to sleep. And dunno why only when the mid-sems have arrived. And don't think I am following the footsteps of a paraplegic who take a six months leave from being a football goalie and then after 4 months decide to play as a hockey goalie....and play it much better than being a football goalie(think its necessary to put on goalie everywhere)...

Well this post seems to be for you to know how stupid ppl can make hearty illushun to captivate the attention of millions of so called at least iitians.

I tell you do take in the online events of cognizance, the techfest at iitr, at least they are going to be a little better, not if you do not belong here. But if you do you may definitely be able to crack it to the third place. And the fun of boasting is that you definitely are third in the world when actually only 3 ppl are there to compete.
But this might seem a little odd that despite those who travel so far to the 31st level all by themselves do not get any appreciation when in the end the winner is some1 out of the campus.
This implies 2 things:
1.) the coordinator has a short term memory.
2.) The coordinator had a plan to organize the event only because he wish to meet his gf at any cost.

And the sufferers are the real mates the ppl like abhishek saxena or this ayush123 who despite being the rabbit and not even sleeping amidst the race loose with the turtle because of the beautiful 4 letter word "poly".
and some ppl who remain stuck forever only because they need the answer and then feel proud of distributing the hintz...lol...that was actually not me!!

and some ppl who actually criticize it so badly and then making an immense planning to launch a better event say teChase and logically after T.S. so as to attract a better audience.
and definitely deciding to have it more logical than the jugaad thing....
and obviously some ppl will always wait to crack it all by themselves.....

and don't wish for more cause you cannot make it far too long for your post to be readable

Hacking Office Trial 2007

Such a posts do not require much time to think and write, and I actuallyy wasn't writing this one if only gurveen has not convinced me by saying,"nahi to main likh dunga". Anyways this topic is not exactly what is depicted...I am just bypassing the activation trial notification so that it is never ever displayed and hence making it work for as long as you want. Just in case you forget don't try updating as it might corrupt the software.
First of all we need to install the Microsoft Office 2007 trial version....and if you have also given some product key there, then I shall first tell you to remove the key..

1. Close all Microsoft Office applications.
2. Run Register Editor by clicking on Start -> Run, and then type “regedit” in the Open box and press Enter key.
3. Navigate to the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Registration

Note that inside the registry key, there should be another subkey that resembles the following:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Registration\{90120000-0030-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE

or

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Registration\{91120000-0011-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE

4. If there is more than one registry entries or subkeys that reference Microsoft 12.0 registration, open up each subkey, and then identify the product by the ProductName value data until you locate the subkey for the product which you want to remove the existing product license key.

For example:

ProductName=Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007
ProductName=Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007

5. Once found the correct registry subkey, delete the following values:

DigitalProductID
ProductID
6. Close Registry Editor.


Once Microsoft Office 2007 has been installed with no product key, proceed with the following steps:

1. In Windows Explorer, browse to the following folder:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE12\Office Setup Controller\Proof.en\

2. Right click on Proof.XML file, select “Open With…” in the right click menu.
3. In the “Open With” window, select Notepad to be used to open the XML file. In Vista, if you can’t see the Notepad option, simply double click the “Other Programs” to unhide it.

4. Scroll down to the bottom of the Proof.XML to locate the following lines:

Feature Id=”SetupXmlFiles” Cost=”1248″
OptionRef Id=”AlwaysInstalled”/
/Feature
you can also search the lines using "ctrl+F" and searching the exact keywords written above.

5. Change the AlwaysInsalled to neverInstalled so that the line looks like following:



6. Save the Proof.xml file. In Windows Vista, you may need to take ownership and grant full access permission to yourself before able to modify the file.
7. You can now launch Microsoft Office 2007 application such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and etc without prompting for activation.

As usual, as it’s a hack, and before you purchase a valid product key for it, you won’t be able to AND can’t access any updates or Microsoft Office Online.

Break the Internet Bottleneck!!

Well!! This person cheat2win has again mesmerized me start off blogging for new posts and consequently here comes another one with returning zeal and vigor as the previous ones.
This post was a result of the sudden strike in my mind while working over them. I am talking about the two world class social networking sites, Orkut and Facebook. And if not world class, then at least in a great competition in India.
Now internet is not a thing that is not easily available, and with the advancements in technology it has been easily available at low cost all around the world (And if you are more dedicated towards your studies, then you might be able to avail it for free :)
People have always found themselves attracted towards the internet and its applications and not only this the net-freaks have also found many ways to crush ppls hearts and force them to click where they should not.
These social networking sites, well dunno if they really are of much advantage, but are definitely very addicting. They say that they help to keep ppl in touch....so what are these electronic mails made for. Is it only because you wish to show your scraps and walls publicly that you have fallen for the social networking beasts.
Well it could have been okay till the point you talk over sending msgs, watching videos, uploading pics etc. , what for are these applications introduced in these sites. I simply do not understand...
It all started with facebook, and now even orkut has done with it, the aim of sending msgs is surmounted by the clear intention of increasing the traffic on the sites. And dont tell me you cant see, I bet facebook is on the brim of covering all the applications that could have ever existed. Its fusion with zynga.com has led to tremendous increase in the kind of applications that has grabbed the attention of the youth and the adults too (though for a very short period of time).
Orkut on the other hand has emanicipated some cheap PJ applications that I even dont feel like wasting my time, I do agree for some, even I felt on introduction but its clearly a bunch of time waste.
I say these things clearly swipe off a lot of your time without even coming to your notice. I tell you the best of the things that you can do on the Internet. In fact the next posts of mine would be for the same, to make your net get used in a good direction and improving your technical knowledge in computers and some freaking fundas for you to hunt upon....

Google Chrome!!

Finally the much awaiting Google Chrome is out. Google has hosted its first browser on 2nd September, 2008. The features are just remarkable, best thing about it is that it is An open source platform including Google Gears integration. That means the feature we find after a lot of searching in iGoogle and the Gmail labs will now be available for use at much faster speed.

Some advanced features have been introduced here in the chrome:-

1. Google chrome comes with a new advanced and a more powerful JavaScript engine, V8, to power the next generation of web applications that aren't even possible in today's browsers.
2. Like the classic Google homepage, Google Chrome is clean and fast.
3. Special tabbed browsing functionality. Now this is something very different from even the latest Mozilla FireFox3.
4. Auto completing & search powered address bar (similar to FF3?).So it means that you get Google along with the browser both running at immensely high speeds.
5. Incognito mode where “nothing that occurs in that window is ever logged on your computer”.This feature relieves us from clearing our computer cache everytime.
6. Ability to launch web applications in browser windows.
7. Advanced privacy / malware / phishing protection. This seems to be getting interesting!!

Now this seems to be a bad news for the Microsoft. Well at such a pace Google may take over the Internet. Though its applications are still irresistible but this one is too much.
These were the words of Los Angeles Times on 2nd September 2008-
"Chrome intensifies the battle between the tech giants and continues Web software's drive to supersede the operating system."
Now that appears to be so true....

The feature that is looked forward in the Google Chrome is the new special tabbed browsing. Actually it was noticed that the tabs in the browsers we use eats up a lot of RAM of the computer, additionally if one tab does not respond the others also do not seem to work. In all, the browser goes hell.

The feature introduced here treats each tab as a different browser. Not only this, the tabs are expandable + they can also be cascaded as the windows. This means the tabs are now like separate windows in one browser.

Apparently it was a FireFox 2 Add-On that, as Google explains:

Google Browser Sync for FireFox is an extension that continuously synchronizes your browser settings – including bookmarks, history, persistent cookies, and saved passwords – across your computers. It also allows you to restore open tabs and windows across different machines and browser sessions.

The reviews seem to be too good in just one day so what when the whole world will get to know about it. Lets see what the chrome has got for us.

The Riegn of the Newspapers!!

The world is there at your doorstep every morning. The newspapers say it out loud. Whatever you wish to know from the 24 page novel that you receive with daily updates, its there. It quietly fills the lives with the information that a dude!! wishes to have. What more....if you haven't started yet, then do it before the others do.

The newspapers roar every type of news. Starting from the most fascinating on the front page, the locals of the working city, the sound cinema, affairs of the world, business takeovers, sports to sci-fi news, the newspapers tamarind out everything. The post here is not to describe how good newspapers are, that is so obvious in every body's mind except foe some negative souls.
I am here to tell you not to miss the easy singles that too make up a great deal of runs to add to your life. A recent surveys have found that the newspapers are becoming more and more brief(not to the extent of the one liners), but the business deals are packed, the crosswords are reduced in size, all the information is reduced in content a little. Its rather better in quality and more in quantity. And not just that the editors of the newspapers are employed as a more younger and tech-savvy crowd.

The deal is that the newspapers let you know what might take you a day to search on the wiki or Google to the precise amount of information you require, or you must be knowing. I still left out the editors page in the midst of the above content.Such a page is like a daily update of a blog, the editors give you the professional feelings. Competition never ends for anyone. If you are good then others may be better, and you have to prove your worth in that case not only to every one but also for self-satisfaction. In today's world the need is not of money, not of fame and not of being the best, everything is achievable so easily only if we learn to believe in ourselves. This is the key, the success of the world as a whole in every field lies here.
Being here at IIT Roorkee, I have found people striving for knowledge, striving to be the best. Some achieve it, some fail, some give it a reason Some are happy in where they are, some think that they were meant to be somewhere else. There is a saying :- The winner is not the one who always wins, but the one who never loses.
IIT Roorkee has shown some nice talent all around the world, some examples that lie on the walls of the university. The competition has always been high out here, young talented intellectual crowd has made it one of the top T-institutes of the world. The view of the main building of IIT Roorkee is like entering in heavens. Every year a lot of people intern outside, do projects prepare research papers. We do not leave any opportunity that comes to us to show its worth.
Top class infrastructure, nice professors, green campus, and many other attractive things have now forced even the dataquest, a magazine with results that come directly from surveys to the inside of the institutes have rated our institute at rank 3 in all of Indian T-Schools. I think the institute has always deserved it. We are no less than professionals.

The Nuclear Deal!!

As we all know the nuclear deal is all set to begin its consequences over the future of India, the 123 agreement. Such a decision requires an ample amount of thinking, not only about why but even the consequences that India could face. Its like we should never look back to the road not taken.

Such a debate is unending, cause we have as many strong reasons to approve than to disapprove.

But yes!! no one can disapprove the fact that this nuclear deal will lead us to somewhere at a better future. The scarcity of the non-renewable sources of energy has compelled us to opt for the choice. For a sustainable future and stable economy of the country the deal had to be sanctioned.

Though we had reasons against the thing also. Like signing the deal with the U.S. shall definitely make it able to serf the countries dependent over it for the reactors, fuel, cost,etc. According to the deal, U.S. will be the sole repository and all the import export routes related to the deal has to pass via Washington.

The most important thing of concern is that the deal has already done a lot of damage among the Indians. The relations between the U.P.A govt. and the Left front has risen to a far greater level than it had ever been since last two decades. There exists an environment of cold war between the two, much after 22nd July when the bundles of money were displayed in the Parliament. Though the deal might prove useful, the consequences won't allow us to use the opportunity to its peak.The logic of destabilizing a government for the sake of an international pact defies all political wisdom.

Among all this chaos may not we forget the most important issue of the Energy crises. Another possibility can be shifting towards using the renewable sources of energy. We are still not utilizing it to the optimum level. And India being a vast country holds a lot of these sources. Though its not possible to apply it on a large scale much due to the cost factor and the efficiency provided by the systems wont be high as well. Motivated by swades, I believe the remote areas and the villages can be installed with small energy stations for fulfilling this purpose. I actually mean that we should not completely depend on the Nuclear deal to follow.Now we just have to see what dominates, the Indo U.S. deal or the Intellectual Ingenuity of the Indians.
